Dr. Susan BrandonDirector of Research

Susan E. Brandon, Ph.D., served as Research Program Manager for the High-Value Detainee Interrogation Group (HIG) from early 2010 until December of 2017. The mandate for the HIG Research Program was to improve interview and interrogation methods across the U.S. government. The Program, involving world-renown researchers, has resulted in more than 160 publications in scientific journals. This research was transitioned into the HIG one-week training program beginning in 2012. Dr. Brandon previously was a Program Officer at the National Institutes of Health, Assistant Director for Behavioral and Social Sciences at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), and Visiting Scientist at the American Psychological Association. Before those posts, prior to 2001, she spent 15 years as a faculty member in the Behavioral Neuroscience Division of the Department of Psychology at Yale University.
